Dear All

We are organising a 4 day trip to Wales for around 20 people including pillions (around 16 bikes). The dates will be 20-23 June 2019.

We had a lovely weekend recently exploring some of the fabulous and quirky routes which will be a mixture of A, B, and C roads. There’s only the occasional bit of gravel or grass and only because it’s necessary to link us to a fabulous road!

We also checked out the hotel we think will work best as it has a range of rooms at different prices, offers a Dinner Bed and Breakfast rate, covered parking and had superb service. The hotel is the Royal Sportsman in Porthmadog which is a great base for our planned rides.

Price details are below and are based on us having 20 people and are for dinner bed and breakfast:

small double & 1 small twin rooms at £71.00 per person per night – single occupancy: £90.00

larger double/twin rooms at £77.00 per person per night – single occupancy: £97.00

single room at £85.00 per person per night – no supplement but only 5 available

The plan would be to meet (Day 1) at a Cafe in Penyffordd just off the A55 near Chester at 10am for breakfast. We will be blasting down by motorway and people are welcome to join us or just meet us there. That will be the start of the trip and we have a pleasant route via Bala to get us to Porthmadog. We then have two wonderful rides which are fun and may test your skills in places! We also have checked the cafes and have a fun range of those too. On day 4 we ride back on a lovely route and finish at a fabulous farm shop and cafe about 1pm.

That’s the overview. To secure the hotel we need 10% deposits per person ASAP (we will ask you for this once we have confirmed the rooms with the hotel), so it’s not much. so please sign up on here if you want to come and let us know whether you are solo or 2 up and what room you want. We will keep a reserve list too. We apologise for asking you to sign up so soon and for the deposit but the hotel books up early on as its very popular for groups

Cheers

Sarah and Astrid

PS we already have the following who have confirmed:

Sarah and David - double

Haggis Dave - single

Dave Rees and Judith - double

Astrid ? share twin

Andy Griffiths ? share twin

Hi Sarah

If there are not enough singles more than happy to take a double or large double and pay the single occupancy supplement

In fact i would probably prefer a double bed if available

Best regards

Frank

Hi DBD

You'd get away with the pan. There's not a lot of gnarly-ness. We're going again in October to ride the routes this time so I can update you. If it was me and I had the choice however, I'd probably go for the GS!

So currently 14 bikes, 19 people.

Ideally we have space for another 1 bike (1-2 people) before we hit the reserve list:

1. Sarah

2. Strap-on Dave - large double

3. Haggis Dave - single

4. Dead bunny Dave and Judith - large double

5. Astrid ? share twin

6. Andy Griffiths ? share twin

7. Bob- single

8. Phil and Amanda - large double

9. Gaz and Sharon - double

10. Manhole John - single

11. Paul and Judith - large double

12. Frank - double preferred

13. John and Judy - double

14. Angela - single

Hilarious - I did wonder if people would sign up so far ahead...how wrong was I?!

DBD some of the c roads are a bit narrow and there is one with gates but nothing with too poor a road surface. One had a fair bit of gravel on it on one section but i’m Going to reccy an alternative- it’s not too bad tho. We’ve taken out a couple of dodgy roads!
